Christmas Smokers History
The smoked man was invented of plaything producer from the Ore Mountains and he should serve the burning off of aromatic candles.
In 1830 the smoked man was mentioned the first time and is in the today's time a steady component in the Christmas tradition of
the Ore Mountains, but also in many other areas.
Since it is to have given already before the german Christmas smokers aromatic candles (probably around 1750), the emergence of the smoking figures
is attributed to the general tobacco arising around 1900. The smoking gentleman with whistle could be an image of the smoking figures
at that time. Mostly they resembled also the professional fields at that time like, e.g.a peddler, ranger, hunter, shepherd, craftsman
and more.
Five thousand years ago gifts like gold, spices and gems has been among the most precious gifts of kings and emperors. There has been a
close connection with the Christian religion, too. The bible says in Matthew 2, verse 11, about the journey of the Three Wise Men to
Bethlehem: “and opened their treasures and offered him gold, frankincense and myrrh”. The festivity of the Three Wise Men is still
celebrated in Germany on January 6.
